Local Nature Recovery Strategies (LNRS) were introduced as part of the Environment Act 2021 and are a statutory requirement.

The LNP held its 2023 conference on 13th November, titled ‘Nature’s Recovery’, with a focus on the development of the Local Nature Recovery Strategy for Warwickshire, and links across county boundary to neighbours. 81 people attended, including WALC, and individuals from Parish Councils, Local Authorities, landowners, Environmental NGOs, local voluntary groups, Government Agencies and WMCA.

The conference included presentations from Natural England, the Natural Capital Assessment team, ecologists, Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, Catchment Partnerships, and University of Warwick, and South Warwickshire Area Network for Wildlife (SWAN).

There was excellent discussion and input into workshops which covered the themes of priority species, landscape scale areas for restoration, engagement of landowners and farmers, habitat restoration targets, engagement of local communities, and involvement of the health sector.
